death by midterms

This is me right now:

I survived, but only barely. I felt like I was going to be sick today for several hours before my exam . . . and that was only one of three midterms this week. I don't think I failed this one, but I didn't do well. I have been ill for several days now, and never before in the history of my education have I had so much trouble trying to study for an exam. I put more time into studying for this exam than I have for any test in a while, but I just could not focus. I hope this does not become a trend.

At any rate, I love my voice right now. It almost makes the stuffy head, coughing, sore throat, and trouble sleeping worth it just to have this voice. I love Kathleen Turner.

And lastly, I am officially swamped. I have a ton of designing and drawing and creating to do this week. People keep telling me that the reason I'm sick right now is because I don't sleep enough. I'd like to pose the question, Why haven't I been constantly sick for the last five years? I just hope my body can last a little longer before I give it a break. I need to pull some late nights to get these projects done by Monday. I'm sure that by the end of the weekend there'll be hell to pay. Revolution everyday. My poor body.

revolution everyday... nice.

nice pictures on the f-book. now, how's that list coming? you're killin' me here! i neeeed to share. and debate. and feel outraged at your picks. and silly for not choosing them myself. i need to be jealous at your astute ears and haughty of my own. i need to shout you down as you shout even louder.

help me if you can. i do appreciate it.

I honestly have been working on the list. And, I feel exactly the same way about it . . . which is why I am never satified with my choices.

Soon. I just need to pay closer attention to some bass and drums and stuff before I can finalize everything.

Oh, and I'm tickled again that you caught my reference on your wall. I was hoping you would.

yes! a great line.

did you catch the "what language do you thank in?" i just listened to it yesterday with the volume turned way up and heard it for the first (well, second, i suppose) time. a gem, rediscovered.

Gaelic.

Yep.

I was just too excited about Rattle and Hum to respond to it. And, I didn't know how to spell what Bono said after that . . . so . . . yeah. Laurence it was. Or is it Lawrence?

I think it's with a "w." I think...

And on IMDB it says it's Edge who says it. I always thought Bono. Cause he's the only one who talks ever. I have to watch it again, I'd love it if it were Edge.

It doesn't show who says it . . . I just watched it again. It shows Larry the whole time. But, it sounds like Bono to me. I dunno. I'd love for it to be Edge too.

But, Larry is looking sort of to his right when he says his line, which is where Edge is standing. Bono is more on the left. Ack! I can't tell. Watch it britt and tell me what you think. It's right before "Angel of Harlem".

I'll watch it. Maybe tomorrow. Aya would make fun of me if I were looking up silly U2 trivia rather than doing the homework that I'm supposed to be doing right now. I don't need her mocking me on top of my guilt. Heh.

Okay, so instead of doing that, I wrote up my list and saved it as a draft and then blogged. Now I'm off to my meeting (it's about starting a Reed AIDS action group) and I'll be back in a jiff.

(I think you should blog the lists when we're all done. Or better yet, we could blog them on our joint-blog that we never created, but the idea of which I liked so much. Then commenting would be a breeze. We just never came up with a name... Some sort of obscure U2 reference/pun, maybe? beachball.blogspot.com? iwillfollow.blogspot.com? ibelieveinlove.blogspot.com? You get the drift.)

so i watched rattle and hum. i think it is edge. bono looks poised to say something, but i don't think he gets anything in. i think edge beats him to it.

when did adam stop smoking, you think? did he ever? do any of the others smoke?

15 February, 2006 13:12
Blogger JENNIFER:

I don't think Adam has stopped smoking, although, that's a pure guess. I've read several articles via internet sources (not always completely reliable---but we don't have much else) that say he's kind of the party/irresponsible one. He's had to miss concerts because of hangovers or being wasted . . . I think he got busted for drugs once.

As far as I've read, they've all tried to stay fairly clean . . . which is admirable. It's not been a very public topic for the band (at least as of late) so I think it's pretty safe to say they're staying away from hard drugs and such.

And, I think you're right . . . I think it's gotta be Edge.

And as far as the other guys smoking . . . I've never seen them do it. Maybe Larry? It seems like it would fit with the muscle-shirt persona.

I've definitely heard Bono spout off about being the cleanest band in rock n roll. No hard drugs, gambling, trashing hotel rooms. They're all fairly spiritual. I hadn't heard those rumours about Adam, but it's funny somehow that he's the partier. Heh heh.

Have you heard anything about the rumours that they nearly had to split up when two of them (Bono and Edge?) got really fundamentalist Christian and wanted to go start a Christian band or colony or... something?

15 February, 2006 21:25
Blogger JENNIFER:

Isn't it odd that the quiet grey-haired one is the party animal? Well, as party-animal-ish as far as U2 goes.

Hmmm . . . I'm not familiar with such rumors, but I would believe it. Do you have any idea what year Bono and Edge wanted to try that little colony dealy?

mid-late eighties? i forget. it's a rumour i heard long ago.

i'd imagine around the joshua tree/ rattle and hum days. it seems like their most "christian" time.
