gonna blow right through you like a breeze

Well, after thirty hours in a car, four full days at home, one trip to the beach, several turkey dinners, a couple movies, some football, and plenty of blankets, I am back in Utah to finish out the last three weeks of my second-to-last semester.

I am thankful for safe travel.

Due to being sick over half the time, I wasn't exactly feeling up to doing the things I didn't get to do over the summer (see: list), but I did climb on the Iredale. I've got the pictures to prove it. Well, I didn't climb on the main part . . . just some of the pieces of the stern . . . does that count? I'll just have to go climb on it again in December.

Despite my exhaustion with things here and being mostly burned out, I intend to finish the school year, my classes, and my designs honorably.

It gets harder and harder to come back to Utah every time.

printmaking and design

So, I was able to register for classes a week ago and I've been fiddling with my schedule ever since. Guess what class I'm going to take?! PRINTMAKING!!! Yay! I'm very excited. In other, sadder news, all the badminton classes (I think there was only one) were full by the time I tried to register. So sad. The flexibility/stretching class I'd been excited about was also completely full. Yikes. So, I'm currently registered for "World Dance". I figure it'll be easy and I totally have an edge because I did the whole Scandinavian thing.

And, in design news . . . it's sort of a long story, but I'm not designing Berlin any more. You remember, that show I've been looking forward to for like, eight months? Anyway, these last couple of weeks since I found out have been frustrating, but things are finally better. What happened was, they decided to make it into a film, brought in a bunch of professional designers, and made the student designers that had been assigned to the show "assistants". This would have been okay, especially since Doug is the designer and I like Doug, but I was sort of set on doing my own design next semester. After discussing things with all the powers that be, and many email conversations back and forth, I have now been reassigned to the April Pardoe show, Playing Fields which is an original piece written by a grad student. It's official as of this morning. Hot off the press. I've heard the show is really funny and great, and I just got the script today, so we'll see. It's set in Scotland. Anyone have any rad pictures from Scotland that I could use in my research?

If you're interested in coming to see my fifth and final design here at BYU, it runs from March 19 through April 4 next semester Tuesday through Saturday. All are welcome. I can get you tickets.

Also, I paid my graduation fee today.

Today I sat in the counselor's office . . . and you know what she said to me?

"Just write your full name here exactly how you'd like it to appear on your diploma."

My heart skipped a beat.
