it's gotta be rock and roll
to fill the hole in your soul

Do you know what today is? Today is the day my first graduate school application was due (minus NYU which was just too long ago to think about). I submitted my application to Northwestern University just now and it is a very odd feeling. I'm applying to grad school. If I keep telling it to myself, it might sink in.

Otherwise, I'm swamped with schoolwork and designing. Roofsliding (the show formerly known as Playing Fields and also formerly known as Cake) is coming along nicely. We had to cut WAY back because of budget stuff (stinks to have a Margetts budget in the Pardoe space) but the director is pleased and I'm . . . "not disappointed" we'll say. Now, let's hope we can keep the TD pleased. Always a challenge.

Next graduate school application due date: February 15th.

the love of ABBA

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

I have hereby decided that the order of songs on the album ABBA Gold is perfect. I decided this while sitting here tonight, listening to it, sketching ideas for my design. I have several of their other albums and when I made a playlist of my favorite songs, it just wasn't the same . . . even though the ones I chose were basically the same songs featured on the album. I don't know why, but ABBA is SO much more enjoyable when listened to in this order. I also don't know if I feel this way because the order actually is remarkably designed or if it is because this is the order in which I listened to ABBA growing up.

In other news, I have begun my final semester of undergrad. It's going to be annoying to try to make up for all the time I'm missing because of conferences and stuff . . . but I'm pretty sure it'll be worth it.

The most exciting part of my semester is designing for Roofsliding (previously known as Playing Fields or Cake). I was excited about some of my classes, but after attending most of them today, it looks like they'll be sort of mediocre. This is probably due more to a loss of interest in school on my part rather than the actual mediocrity of the classes. Hopefully I'll get more into them as the semester wears on.

And also, I'd just like to say, I have the best cupboard in the kitchen this semester. It's awesome.

ABBA is great.

2008

So this is the new year, and I wish I could travel just by folding a map. It's the end of the party, and the fireworks are through. I want to be with you night and day because nothing changes on New Year's Day.

Anyway, here's how I did on last year's resolutions. More coming soon.

New years often cause reflection. Such is the case with me. The only conclusion I can come to is that life is strange. And ironic. Always.
