Houston was an ordeal. I am glad to be back in Utah.
I sat down just now to write a long old post about USITT and Houston, but now I don't feel like doing it. I've complained a lot, but really wasn't all that bad. The worst event was our luggage getting lost in Denver on the way there and me consequently having to show up for my pneumatic painting workshop at the Alley Theatre in capris and flipflops (HUGE no-nos in a scene shop). Everyone was cool about it though, and a guy named Micah loaned me his coveralls. The conference was mostly good . . . workshops were hit-and-miss as always. I felt kind of guilty because I didn't take as much advantage of everything as I should have. I should have been more aggressive about finding summer work and should have gone through the professional job placement thing . . . guh. My heart wasn't in it. I don't really know where my heart is right now.
Good news! My parents and little brother are coming down to see Roofsliding, my final BYU show. Hooray! I'm glad they will finally get to see something I've done in this art that I love . . . this art to which I have dedicated these last five years. Also, they are taking some of my junk home with them (they're driving; they have a spring break) so I need to pack. I have to pack! Ahhhh, even the sound of it is so refreshing.
Also, I got my graduation announcements in the mail while I was away. Is is typical to put a photo in them when you send them out? If so, I need to get me a photo. Or maybe I'll just use that Prague underground one I like so well.
